Good morning neighbors.
I’ve lived in a lot of places.
I’m originally from Wisconsin, and after 17 years in the Army, I had the chance to experience life all over the country and overseas. Different cities. Different communities. Different ways of living.
And like a lot of people, I’ve seen what the bigger, busier areas have to offer.
In another version of life, I could see myself closer to the center of it all. Living near downtown. Walking to games. Being right in the middle of that constant energy.
But when it came time to settle down and build our life, we made a different decision.
We chose the suburbs.
We planted roots here in Shelby Township, Sterling Heights, Macomb Township, and Utica. And if you live out this way, you already know… this area doesn’t always get the same attention as the city.
But it should. Because this is where a lot is happening.
New neighborhoods going up. Youth sports fields packed every night. Local businesses opening, growing, and figuring it out. Families putting down roots and building something real.
It may not have the spotlight, but it has something better.
It has stability. It has community. It has people who take pride in where they live.
After everything I’ve seen and everywhere I’ve been, this is where we chose to be.
And I’m proud of it.
If you live here too, you know exactly what I mean.

🥚 Adult Easter Egg Hunt | Blake Farms | Armada | Apr 3-4 @ 6:00 PM | More
If you’ve been out this way for any amount of time, you already know Blake’s.
It’s one of those places that’s just part of the area. Apple picking in the fall, cider mill trips, something going on almost every season. At some point, everyone’s ended up there.
This one’s a little different.
They’re taking the classic Easter egg hunt and turning it into something for adults. You’ll be out in the orchard searching for eggs filled with prizes, drink tickets, and a few surprises mixed in.
It’s part competition, part excuse to get out with friends, and honestly just a fun way to kick off the weekend.
They’ll have food, drinks, and everything set up to make it feel more like a night out than a typical event.
If you’ve never been to one of their events, this is a good one to start with.

🍽️ Primo’s Cantina | Shelby Township | More
Since moving out this way, this has been one of those spots we keep coming back to.
You know how every area has a few places that just become part of your regular rotation? This is one of them for us.
Whether it’s grabbing dinner during the week or meeting up with friends, Primo’s has that mix of good food and a solid atmosphere where you don’t feel rushed. It’s easy, consistent, and just works.
They’ve got a strong menu with all the staples you’d expect, plus drinks and a setup that makes it feel like more than just a quick stop. It’s the kind of place you can bring family, meet friends, or just get out of the house for a bit.
Not every spot needs to be over the top. Sometimes you just want somewhere reliable that you know you’ll enjoy every time.
If you haven’t been yet, it’s definitely worth checking out.
